Palak paneer with video and step by step photos. One of the most popular Indian dishes is palak paneer – soft cottage cheese cubes in a mild spiced smooth spinach sauce.

It is smooth creamy dish made with fresh spinach leaves, paneer (cottage cheese), onions, herbs and spices. Palak paneer can be made vegan by substituting paneer with tofu and using cashew cream or coconut cream or skipping cream altogether.



Step 1

How to blanch palak

Ingredient

  • Palak as per requirement
  • Coriander leaves (Amount of palak/4)
  • Mint leaves (3-4 nos)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Water as per palak quantity
  • Ice one tray.
Method

1.    Boil water.

2.    Add palak, coriander leaves and mint leaves.

3.    Now add sugar, salt and baking powder. This makes the water alkaline and the palak will retain its color.

4.    When palak done and soft shift it to ice water and cool it.

5.    This will stop the cooking process of palak.

Step 2

Ingredient 

  • Onion two medium roughly cut
  • Tomato two medium roughly cut
  • Ginger 1 inch chopped.
  • Green chilly 2 cut or slit
  • Garlic 06 flakes cut
  • Oil 2 Tbsp
  • 1 Tsp Jeera / cumins
Method 

1.    Heat pan and add oil.

2.    When oil is heated add cumins. Wait till it crackles.

3.    Now add garlic, ginger and onion.

4.    Cook till onion becomes transparent.

5.    Add tomatoes. Add salt so tomato melts quickly. Lastly add chilly and cook it for 1 min.

6.    When tomato melts cool it and transfer mixture to mixture.

Step 3

Transfer onion mixture and boiled palak to mixture and mix it.

Step 4 (Tadka)

Ingredient

  • Ghee 2 Tbsp
  • Paneer cubed 100 gms 
  • Dry chilli 02 Nos
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • Garlic 06 flakes cut
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Chilly powder 1 tsp
  • Jaiphal grated 1 tsp
  • Processed cheese 30 gms
  • Cream 3 Tbsp

Method 

1.     At medium flames heat pan and add ghee.

2.    Add dry chilli cook it for 10 seconds.

3.    Add Jeera wait till it crackles.

4.    Add Garlic cook till golden color.

5.    Take out half of garlic for garnishing.

6.    Add turmeric and chilly powder cook 30 seconds.

7.    Add palak mixture. 

8.    Add Jaiphal 

9.    Add processed cheese grated or three cheese slices.

10.    Add paneer. 

11.    Add cream or malai.

12.    Your palak paneer is ready to serve. Garnish with fried garlic,
